Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS/BSN)

The BS or BSN is a four-year nursing program offered at colleges and universities. This program prepares nurses to practice in a variety of health care settings. Students who graduate with BSN degrees have the greatest opportunity for advancement because of the diversity of jobs offered to those holding this degree.
Students who graduate with a BSN degree possess the theoretical foundation and the clinical competence to function in various healthcare settings. The graduate is prepared to deliver nursing care services to individuals, families, population groups, and communities. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the national licensing examination for registered nurses (NCLEX). Some states require this degree, so make sure to check with your local state licensing board before entering any program.
