Salaries for RNs in California are some of the highest in the nation. An experienced RN has an average starting salary of over $75,000 and after a few years experience increases to over $90,000 annually. However, California also has an extremely high cost of living, so while cities such as San Francisco and San Diego offer high salaries, the cost of living is nearly double that of other states. They do not call California the land of the sun and sea for nothing and most residents of this state say the high cost of living is well worth it.
